Should I buy Citizen Kane on DVD?

I have not seen it, but I love films (such as Godfather, Godfather II, Casablanca, Lawrence of Arabia, Rocky, Saving Private Ryan are my favorites) But lots say its boring, lots say its amazing. Is it worth it?

BONUS question (just for fun!): Goodfellas or Godfather I/II?

Given you list Casablanca as one of your favorites, I would say you'd probably enjoy Citizen Kane. As to whether you should buy it, I think it would depend on why you buy films.

If you are a collector or a student of film then absolutely I think you should own Citizen Kane (the double disc special edition is pretty great - a couple of commentary tracks, documentary, etc). Citizen Kane is undoubtedly one of the most important films ever made as far as technique and direction are concerned. Welles did things with perspective and long takes that have influenced everybody since.

From a purely entertainment view, I can't say Citizen Kane is exactly thrilling. It's interesting, but it's not really something that you would rewatch just for entertainment. Once you learn the secret of Rosebud, it's done. It's quite long, and it feels like.
