What can my friend do to become a US Citizen if she was brought here illegally?
I don't support illegal immigration but her situation is a bit different. She brought to the US 20 years ago when she was a baby by her parents who were dying...she had papers from someone else. Anyways, to make a long story short...she is a great gal who has a lot going for herself but I really want to help her become a US citizen but she has no papers only a state ID and that's it. Is there anything I could do to help her out?
Once again....she was a baby....she hasn't has it easy at all....she has gone thorugh things people twice her age have never gone through. Honestly, I am willing to give my education, job, money for her because she is that great of a person. She does want to do it legally...that is why I am asking.
This is a kind of unlucky situation...if she came 20 years ago that means she came in 1987 which was one year after the big amnesty. She may not qualify for the 1986 that says any immigrant that can prove that came to the US before 1986 can grant a ssn# and become US resident (or something like that). Or she can get married with a US Citizen, that will help a lot on this situation. Another idea could be to get a good immigration lawyer so they can contact the congress to try to fix her situation. I think you and your friend should be positive about this problem and tell her that she is as American as we all are.
