How did an "Alcoholic bum" become the most powerful leader in the world, film asks? Do you ask this, too?

How different the world might look now if the US president and his advisers had settled on the phrase Axis of Unbearably Odious, or Axis of Hatred. But they rejected that and instead plumped for Axis of Evil, and the rest is history.
So begins the script to Oliver Stone's new movie, W, on the life of George W Bush, which begins filming this month and will be produced at speed. Stone, a director with a keen eye for publicity, is thought to want to get the film into cinemas before the November presidential election, and certainly before Bush quits the White House on January 20.
He insists that the film will be an accurate and fair portrait of Bush the man, though historical objectivity is not one of Stone's strong points, judging by his previous presidential efforts, Nixon and JFK
Not all alcoholics are bums, and not all bums are alcoholics. Who knows....George Bush may have been a better man if he kept drinking and avoided becoming a Jesus freak, a mindless political reactionary and alas, the President of the United States! George Bush is the quintessential flawed hero. Given the events of 9-11 he could have risen far above his past failures and become a truly forceful human dedicated to the well being of his country and to the citizens of his country. To his shame and to our bad fortune, he failed. He remained the stooge of men far more evil, incompetent, greedy and uninformed than any who ever held the fortunes of a nation in their hands. He was content to read the speeches handed him, or, on his own, blather his embarrassing gibberish hoping to be SEEN as a great leader though without any of deeds expected of a great leader. I'm sure Ollie Stone will exaggerate both the man's faults and the situation that history thrust him into, but so what? His misdeeds, stupidity, small mindedness and nasty swindling nature has already condemned him. What ever Stone will say about George Bush, even if only half true, is more than enough to condemn this poor wretch of a human being to permanent ridicule and eventual oblivion. No kiddin'!
