was it usual for people who worked for the royal family to be presented with an Omega Watch?

I have just bought an old solid gold Omega watch that is engraved on the back...ER 14th October 1965. The seller said it was presented to a Lady in waiting on her retirement. Is this correct? The engraving is very skillfull and fancy.

If it is it would also have the persons name who received it.
