OMEGA 007 limited edition watch, how to determine fake or real?
I came accross the ad in newspaper, the seller is willing to sell his slightly used watch for 1700$. It's quite inexpensive, so i want to get it for my self. The only thing that worries me is that it could be a replica. He promised to open back case of the watch to show me the original movement. He also supplies warranty certificate for the watch. How can i protect my self and what can be done to ensure that this is a real Omega Watch?
A real Omega will have papers that prove its authenticity as well as the original box that it came in. The box that mine came in was a quite elaborate cream white box with "Omega" embossed in red lettering. Inside was red velvet. There should also be a serial number on the back casing. Many times resellers or sellers of replicas will be forced by law to scratch off the serial number. I would request to get the papers of authenticity with the purchase at the very minimum. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust the guy.
