What's missing from my diet? (I have bipolar disease)...?
Here's my daily routine:
Breakfast:
Oatmeal with a handful of raisins and peanuts, plus one banana. (made with water; not milk)
Lunch:
Lettuce salad with raisins, peanuts, one lemon, two boiled eggs and olive oil dressing
Diner:
Brown rice with lentils or beans
I also take one multi-vitamin, omega-3 capsules, and a calcium supplement. I drink herbal tea and water throughout the day. I work out for 30-40 mins. per day.
Is there any foods I should be eating which would lead to a more regular, steady, and even metabolism? Just the other week my mood was different on every other day. I feel like I need some foods which would calm me down; keep me less jittery - something which would slow my metabolism. Any ideas?
(I tried Lithium and Lamictal, but, unfortunately, they failed)

First of all, you cannot stabilize without medication. If you have bipolar disorder, no amount of carbohydrates or proteins is going to fix it. There are a lot of other medications used as mood stabilizers besides Lithium and Lamictal - such as topomax, depakote, a whole bunch of antipsychotics, and so on.
That said, eating right certainly helps, and my first suggestion would be to stop taking the calcium. Episodes of bipolar disorder may be caused by a build up of calcium in cells - no lie - and cutting down on calcium can stop manic episodes. Also - I've never tried them, but there are actually diets out there geared toward your brain - the Serotonin Power Diet, the Good Mood Diet, and so on, which focus on a certain balance of carbs to give you energy and keep you happy. You seem to be eating really well, actually, but if what you're interested in is actually slowing down your metabolism, then I'd suggest not exercising as much (cut it down to a couple of times a week) and maybe eating a bit more. (Unfortunately there's not much you can do to slow down your metabolism.)
It won't help your bipolar disorder tho. There are plenty of people with very slow metabolisms that are bipolar and have horrible episodes. Your best bet is to find medication that works for you.
