Can my corydoras live off of omega one veggie rounds?
I just got two corydoras today and they don't really seem to want to eat, I have tried giving them bloodworms (sunken to the bottom) and omega one veggie rounds. The veggie rounds say they are for herbivores but it seems to include things like salmon and such which would be good for a carnivore as well. Why aren't they eating is it just too early in the day or do i need to get them some other kind of food?
It's generally recommended that you don't feed your fish the first day you get them. They need some time to decompress after all the stress of transfer. It isn't unusual for your fish not to eat the first few days you get them.
Corydoras are not actually herbivores. They are omnivores, but vegetable matter makes up a huge portion of their diet. Omega One veggie rounds are my absolute favorite staple food for all omnivores, including all my livebearers, snails, and catfish. The first two ingredients are kelp and spirulina, which are the two most nutritious commercial seaweed you can get. Many other brands say they're spirulina flakes, but then you read the ingredients and it's only the 20th ingredient. Your cories also need the protein that is provided by the fish they add to the food. It's a great staple food for them.
