What does 'Maison Pondee' on the back of an Omega watch mean? What does this translate to? Language?

Reverse of watch has this inscription above the name Omega. Clearly the speedmaster watches are marked this way for a reason? Thank you.

It says "Maison Fondee", not Pondee.

It means House Founded, it probably is engraved with a number
1848 next or under these words.
