Rolex Sea Dweller or Oris Chronoris GP70?
Some simple comparisons: the Rolex uses the bulletproof 3135, has a helium escape valve, a rotating bezel, and is timeless. the Oris uses ETA's new 7754, displays GMT time (with day/night indication), chronograph, date, a 10-minute countdown, tach, and has a exhibition back, but is only water resistant to 50 meters (and we all know what THAT means). It comes in a leather box with racing gloves and in a limited edition of 1,970 pieces. they're both priced between 3 and 4 thousand (oris: new and rolex: preowned). looking for a WIS who knows what they're talking about to help me weigh the pros and cons.
Bro, this is the wrong place to ask such a question. Your chances of getting a watch pro in here is like the chances of owning your limited edition Oris..
If I were purchasing a watch that will hold its value over time (no pun intended) it would be the new GP70 because if we were to translate ratio of ownership over 350 million people in USA the % ownership is .000056 translated as a grain of sand in a bucket. Translated over 6 plus billion people in the world it will be like a grain of sand in Miami beach.
The pre-owned Rolex on the other hand (no pun intended again) has no features which will make it age like a violin - the same reason it is priced at $4K.
PS: If you need a diver's watch then the GP70 would not cut it at only 50 meters but you can get a Citizen Pro-master Aqualand with a 200m water resistance rating for around $400. What is the water resistance rating for your Rolex piece? Just being facetious!!
