This type of colour,
I'm having trouble convincing my mother to paint my room brown, and i want to know as many pro's as possible. (:
My bed covers are brown with dark pink/ maroon type of coloured hibiscus flowers. I also plan to paint a few small hibiscus flowers on my walls.
This is what my bed cover's look like. (the light is poor)

Bear with me thru the cons and you'll get to the pros, I promise. But it's easier for you to discuss this with your mom if you have the whole picture.
Because rich, dark-colored paints such as the dark brown you want have a high pigment saturation. If you are planning on using such a dark color, you'll want to use oil paint instead of latex paint so that the color remains true and doesn't fade - the pigment will hold better. If you use latex paint, the color will slowly fade and will not remain true.
Keep in mind that since you want to paint such a dark color, you'll need to prime the wall with a tinted primer to match the paint so that the color is true to itself. This is an added step and added cost.
If your room tends to get dusty, you'll find that dust shows up much more on dark walls. You'll often have to dust those walls.
The cost of oil paint is higher than latex. Also, much messier to paint. I hate oil paint.
If you don't have lots of natural light coming into your room, you'll find yourself living in a cave-like space or your mom will be paying high electric bills.
Now, here are the pros:
You can easily cover over the brown paint when you're sick of it. Simply prime over the brown and then paint again. And even if the brown is oil paint, you'll just have to prime with oil primer but you can then easily repaint with latex on top.
It is, after all, your room. You should be allowed to feel comfortable in it. After all, it isn't like you want to shave a mohawk with your hair and dye it blue. It's just paint on the wall and paint is the least expensive way to decorate.
Chocolate brown walls will actually make a room seem much larger than it is. If mom doesn't believe you, ask her to go look at the sky during the day and then at night... the dark sky always looks larger.
Now, since a picture is worth a thousand words, show here these great decor ideas done with brown paint:
