Do you know why my Tag Heuer is acting crazy, the seconds marker moves funny!!?

I have this watch which I like a lot it is a Tag Heuer Aquaracer model WAF1112, but it has been acting funny, the seconds marker is now stopping for 4 seconds intervals then it restarts and moves forward those 4 seconds very rapidly then stops again for another 4 seconds and so on!! this watch is a quartz movement one so I really hope this is because of the battery which could be about to die, I really hope that is the reason I would rather pay 100 USD for the battery replacement than have to buy a new watch! Please help does anyone know what could cause this malfunctioning

Just as a note I have had this watch for little over 2 years now.
